If you are looking for a book to help you break into drawing anime, this is a great one to start with. There are many full colour illustrations in this book and the author/artist breaks them down for you into simple steps, explaining technique as he goes. He includes simple body styles for you to study and try yourself and as the book progresses, moves on to more complex things. There are a lot of tips and tricks for creating your own original characters included in this guide and it makes it so much simpler to figure out how to draw in perspective and make your characters look right.I was impressed by the easy, conversational flow of this book. It is like learning from a teacher that is there with you. This book would be great for older children first learning the anime style and finding their feet as an artist, as well as for adults looking to learn the style.

I bought this book for my artisticy inclined 11-year old daughter who has fallen in love with anime characters. I am a professional animator myself and this books reminds me of the things I learned while getting my fine arts degrees. I plan to go through it with her and help her understand how to create the characters' proportions and angles, and this book does a great job of introducing those concepts.The book's quality exceeded my expectations for a paperback book at the below $20 price range. It's pages are very high quality paper. The book cover is made of a high grade material that won't tare easily or quickly get bent or misshapen.The illustrations are large and clear and the steps to each are very clear and easy to follow. The colors are vibrant and exciting. There are loads of visuals and great images in this book. I love how it is broken into sections to explain how to make characters have different emotions, how to make lovable heroes or evil bruding villains. Or how to make clothing styles. And the images are large enough to trace with tracing paper so my daughter can begin to get a feel for the correct angles and proportions of the character's features.I am extremely pleased with this drawing guide and will be seeking out more guides from this author and publisher in the future.

This book is well done, and has a lot of guidance to character design. I believe it is somewhat mis-labelled. It is really the master guide to designing characters, not drawing. The drawing walk-throughs are brief and explanation is lacking. Most of the written portions are explaining character archetypes and designs, rather than the technicalities of actually drawing them.

My daughter says "this is the book I've been waiting for." She loves the detailed tips and tutorials. It's much more in-depth than her other books. Perfect for someone who is trying to increase their skill level. Definitely not the first book you want to buy. :)

I'm not into the subject enough to to make any expert critique, but I checked with folks who are and explored numerous offerings. This was my pick, for options under $30. The only evidence I could offer to it being a great choice is that the obsessive-perfectionist 13 year old recipient is deeply into this stuff and has been creating her own anime' comic strips for a couple years and she was totally---I mean totes----delighted. She has been using it constantly and I have received major kudos from this typically demanding (but still very sweet) customer. I bask in my success.

It's interesting, & has some good tips. This book was actually recommended to me by an artist [I follow on social media] that provided some of the art/references for this book! I think my only issue with this, is the same that goes for the other books that Chris Hart puts out: focus too much on 1 subject, and not enough on others. There was a bit too much focus on the school girl, but not much diversity on male characters, or separate genres.

I'm generally a big fan of Christopher Hart's drawing books, but this one left me feeling a little disappointed. It wasn't a bad guide book, per se, but I felt that, for a book with the words "Master Guide" in the title, it could have been more comprehensive, with lessons on drawing hands, feet, and various body shapes/ages (very thin or overweight characters, elderly, children/babies) As it is, the character types explored in the book are very limited, which is a little boring in the end.Even with that one minor complaint, this book is certainly worth owning if you're looking to improve your manga/anime style drawing skills.

I bought this book a few months ago because I loved the idea of having templates to help me draw original characters. I’d describe this book as a mix of characters in different poses with some helpful front, back, side and ¾ views of male and female figures and faces in between. It wasn’t what I was expecting, but I enjoyed it just the same. The pictures are large and easy to see, the illustrations themselves are beautifully colored and the cover itself is fairly thick and glossy with front and back flaps so you can keep track of where you are in the book.The pictures are beautiful and the colors have inspired me just as much as the poses themselves, but I wouldn’t recommend this book for absolute beginners: it doesn’t explain how to draw a face or figure, and starts with fairly “boxy” figures that are fleshed out in 2-4 steps. But for artists young or old who have a basic idea of anime proportions, who have been drawing for a while or who just like looking at/redrawing anime and don’t particularly care about learning the basics, this is a very nice looking book with some good, sometimes challenging poses and plenty of ideas to keep you busy!

Wrestling is the only sport that is truly mentioned in the Bible. It is in Genesis when Jacob wrestled with God (or the angel of God) on his way back home, when he was about to meet his brother Esau. How he wrestled with God the whole night long until the morning, until God eventually blessed him. So I guess you can say that God is also a wrestler.In the book it states that wrestlers (and ex-wrestlers) make out the best Christians. This is very true. The people that I know who have the strongest faith and who is not afraid to live out their faith are wrestlers. Wrestling makes you stong, both physically and spiritually. I recommend this book for both wrestlers and non-wrestlers. For both women and men.

My grandson,Xavier, is a Wrestler. I so enjoyed this book from the very beginning. By page 3 I handed my Ip to my son and said "just read the first few pages. You will want to read this book'. I have learned so much about my grandson's struggles and also about my own walk with Christ. I highly recommend this amazing book. I will explore more books by this author.

Got this as a gift for my husband, who is both a Christian and a wrestler. He says that it doesn't flow well.

This book excellently renders, that which I for many years have not been able to accurately express. wrestling and faith truly go hand-in-hand, and in the pages of this book, the subject is beautifully expounded. An easy read, written in a great flowing manner that is smooth to understand.
