It's important to understand that a book can give you some guidance, but even more important to find a book that gives you ideas and suggestions. It's well written in a way that guides you through the important steps of eL:earning Design in a clear and easy to understand method.I highly recommend this book to anyone interested in eLearning Design.Mike McFarland
Tim Slade's "The eLearning Designer's Handbook" is an excellent starting point for managing an eLearning projects, especially for someone just getting started in the field. It's more of an interactive workbook perfect for carrying along to plan your first few eLearning developments. It's a good gift for someone just getting into eLearning and instructional design.
This publication that Mr. Slade has created on e-learning is a great read if you are starting to create materials in this space. This book is compact, easy to read, and has an excellent design. One thing that I really like about it that stands out is the notes section after each part of the text. Most books don't have a section where one can take notes and this is brilliance at work. Even for non-e-learning professionals, this book will get them up to speed in a short amount of time.I look forward to diving into this book and sharing it with others in my firm.

If you have been tasked with creating eLearning for work, looking to expand your training resources or even think you want to be an instructional designer... this book is for you. Truly a must have for newbies in the industry. Tim's writing is insightful and easy to read. He outlines the steps to organizing content, creating project outlines and story boards, plus all the other little tasks that are necessary when creating eLearning. It's easy to be overwhelmed when you're just starting out, but this book helps build your confidence and set you on the right track.
Reads like a storybook, and spends the first third of the book talking about the definitions of customers and stakeholders. Not much actual information about design theory, technology, instructional design or software. I would explore free e-resources before recommending this.
For those new to elearning and with experience, this well designed, easy to read handbook emphasizes the development process basics in elearning. This ebook does a great job of highlighting the importance of each step, from planning the project to delivering a course, helping us all to stay on track when designing amazing learning experiences!
